Can I build an all-AMD or Intel+Nvidia system that can beat the pants off the
!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!!
I call my home PC (which did cost US$600 new)?
My most demanding benchmark is Bricklink’s Stud.io native renderer, which rendered the model below in 15 minutes .
That, to me is unacceptable, especially with these settings.
I’m pretty sure even a 5th-gen Intel or Zen+ AMD CPU (and accompanying GPU) can render that in 60 seconds on Stud.io’s default settings.
B ut I want something that can render more ambitious builds (part counts up to 500) to 108op in the highest quality and play NFS Heat, modded Assetto Corsa, and/or every major Trackmania release (United Star Ed, TM2, Turbo and the upcoming reboot) with enough quality in details and framerate to make photo mode viable.
All for Php30,000, while still retaining an “all-in-one” form factor (with the case acting as a VESA mount for a monitor). Or Php40,000 (about $800) if I want to push the limit .
Now, admittedly, I kinda have a good idea of what I want in an all-AMD build. Minus the monitor and case (they take way longer to scour than system parts), the red build below costs $717. That said, if I add in a monitor and case, I reckon I’d go o ver my budget ceiling.
It’s the alternative Intel + Nvidia setup I’m having some cheese with. THERE’S TOO MANY OF THEM! On AMD, I get to choose between an APU or the 4-core Zen 2 chip, and that’s it. Intel’s got like bajillions of them yet they all looks the same. How?

Some observations:
970 Evo’s an older drive replaced by the Evo Plus. If you aren’t using something that needs massive disk throughput, consider dropping it to a WD Black or Blue to save some money, most NVMe drives are plenty fast.
If you can shave some money of other stuff, step the CPU up to a 3300X. For not much more the performance is way better, even though the core count is the same. It’s the layout of the chip that makes it much faster.
If you can, wait up a bit for a B550 board. With a 3100/3300X, you may want to step up to a Zen 3 processor later. AMD did backtrack and said there will be a Zen 3 support on the B450, but it’s an one-way ticket with the BIOS to upgrade and may cause some headaches later.
Overall with the COVID logistics situation, it’s driving up prices of parts quite a bit. If you can, wait.

I mean, you could cut back on your budget by leaving out the 10 TB HDD for the time being and get one later once you have the money saved up?

Yeah, no, that looks like overkill in hindsight, especially given that I have a fairly good SSD already (and I can move to a 1 or 2TB Samsung NVME for way less than a combo NVME and hard drive). Maybe something smaller? I mean I’m quite certain the Shutoku Revival mod for AC is going to take a chunk out of 500GB.

You’re right about storage. I can save $100 just ditching the hard drive and going for a 1TB 970Evo+ and I probably wouldn’t be too worried about space or speed.
And with that modification, my price before shipping is $590, and if I assume the GPU’s around $175, the whole system is $765 — completely doable.

I’d go lower on storage unless you have some specific reason to need that much. You can get a 2GB M.2 for ~$220 which seems like it would serve you much better, while still giving a bunch of room. WD purple stuff isn’t suitable for general use anyway.
I’d think you could do 16GB instead of 32GB if you are trying to go cheap.
I would shoot for something higher in the video card. An 8GB 570 or 580 would be a decent upgrade over a 560, and are reasonably affordable these days.

I am not sure on what you want to do with the case, do you want to mount a mini -itx case on the VESA mount on the back of a screen? if so, you would require a mini -itx motherboard and i am not sure that you could use even a low profile graphic card.
If you just want to put the low profile case behind the screen, there are some cases that accept a non-low profile graphic card like the SilverStone Milo ML05 which would be better if you want a cheap and silent graphic card (and have more choice on the GPU).
Currently NVidia GPUs are better in term of efficiency which is important on a small case build and you wont have any penalty to mix an AMD CPU and a NVidia GPU or an Intel CPU and an AMD GPU .
About the RAM, you could buy 16G now then if you feel like you really need more buy it then.
You could probably find a PSU of least 5 00W and still at least 80+ Gold for only a few more dollars, could come in handy if you do put a big CPU and GPU and plan to OC (and possibly re-use the PSU later on another build) .

I am not sure on what you want to do with the case, do you want to mount a mini-IX C case on the VESA mount on the back of a screen?
It’s kinda more like the form-factor of the Aspire (where the case runs the area of the monitor) , but slightly thicker to accommodate the PSU. Which leads into...

Yeah I definitely have that option, too. In fact I was mulling going Nvidia after all mostly because (1) risers exist so as long I get a non-gamer-y design , I’m okay and (2) a reference 1080/Ti may very well be enough to keep me company for a long, LONG time (or until 30XX has matured enough that the 20xx and GTX cards are, uh, lower-priced).

Yeah, the hard drive was a blind dart throw and I since replaced both the NVME and HDD with just one 1TB 970Evo+.

I have a 1080 and i regret not buying a 20xx, with DLSS and raytracing and now better performance from a 2060 super :(

As others have said, you don’t need to spend that much on storage unless you are doing something professionally like game design or video editing. That drive is a third of your total build cost and you’ll never ever utilize its capacity. I’ve had a 1TB drive for years and it’s nowhere near full. You also don’t need that much RAM. I game with 16gb and it’s never come close to being fully used.
I would swap the 560 for an Nvidia 1050ti. They sell for about the same price but have better performance.
Aso, you probably have the best possible performance for an all-in-one already. If you want more than that you have to go with a discrete case.

Come to think of it, our house does have a TV that’s rarely used (and not even to its full potential). I could definitely ditch putting a monitor in and just straight-up build an SFF (or just enough that I can carry it along) for relative plinks without gimping on the power to run every Trackmania AND render a LEGO set about the size of this (min) or this (max) with high details, all for about the same price as my brother and I paid for the Aspire.

Don’t use a tv as a monitor unless you want a very frustrating gaming experience. TVs are more cheaply made than monitors and that comes with an increased display latency. At it’s worst the TV might be displaying 5-6 frames behind what the PC is actually outputting at that moment so it’ll always feel slow no matter how good your PC is. Unless your TV was specifically made for gaming it's going to be sub-optimal.

Woof. That’s another miscalculation on my end.
And another thing I found after reading up on more about Ryzen : the new B550 boards are already out and the cheapest ones do seem to fall well within my $ 700-800 ( converted) budget while still giving me room to move to Zen 3 once it’s matured. Huh. Guess I just have to be patient.

Here’s a build for you using the cpu and mobo you wanted, and including a case and monitor, for almost exactly your budget: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/8kMYZf
I can't vouch for most of the parts but I have that monitor and GPU and they're good, especially for a budget build.
